Torque Blocker

Protects connected machinery against extreme torque overloads by disconnecting shafts — allowing machines to coast down independently.

Torque Blocker

Product Overview

The Torque Blocker is a coupling solution that protects connected machinery against extreme torque overloads by mechanically disconnecting the drive and driven shafts when a set torque threshold is exceeded. Once disconnected, both machines are free to coast down independently — providing a gentle, controlled post-event landing rather than a hard stop.

This approach protects both the drive machine (turbine or motor) and the driven machine (compressor or generator) from the damage that would result from a locked-rotor or extreme torque event. The Torque Blocker is designed to be reset and returned to service, minimizing downtime after a trip event.

Key Features

  • Disconnects shafts at a preset torque threshold
  • Allows independent coast-down of both machines
  • Protects drive and driven equipment from overload damage
  • Resettable after trip event
  • Coupling-integrated design
  • Custom torque thresholds available
  • Suitable for extreme torque overload scenarios
